Typhoon Detector out of Petone’s Baylands Brewery absolutely nails a rarely brewed style. This Red Ale is jam packed with rich toffee and biscuit malt character with an almost golden syrup like note that would overwhelm if it wasn’t for the lively, expressive tropical hop character that comes in over the top to balance and cut through the sweetness. Full bodied and clean with a well considered bitterness.
